I am at the completion of my aspirancy year, and next month will participate in the Rite of Admission to Candidacy. As some of you may know from my previous posts, Katie and I are the proud parents of an eight year old son and six year old triplets (two boys and a girl).
I know that we are somewhat the exception here in the US as far as our age (35) and the age of our children. Most deacon candidates are older, with adult (or at least adolescent) children.
For those with any experience/input, do you have any ideas as to how to make my formation something that they are a part of (in appropriate ways)? My largest concern in my formation is for them. I do not want them to view my vocation as something that takes me AWAY FROM them, but rather something that they are a PART OF.
