Before the internet had it's far reaching impact on the way we do things, one of the resources I used was a quarterly journal called The Living Pulpit. Each quarter was devoted to a different topic and had several (10 or 12?) preachers from different denominations writing their take on the various topics. I was always able to glean one idea or another from it for my homilies.
The Living Pulpit is now going exclusively online. For the foreseeable future, registration is free. At some unspecified time they will probably ask the people who have registered for help in maintaining the site. But right now it is free. The current topic is DISCIPLESHIP.
I highly recommend it. Go to www.pulpit.org and click the register button. (It is easier than registering here! )

PS Here is the welcome from the editor:
Dear Friends,
I want to welcome you to our web site! The Living Pulpit is an exciting ecumenical conversation about the importance of preaching. Each issue of the journal focuses on an important issue and then explores that issue in depth utilizing the viewpoints of different voices for the sake of new understanding. It is our view that preachers have enough "how to" journals available on preaching but not too much available at the level of the "so what" of preaching.
Our hope is to deepen and explore the question of the "so what." We want to expand the dialogue among preachers about the scope, task, and importance of preaching in the 21st Century. I do not think there is anything more important for the church to do than to engage in the passionate and prophetic proclamation of the Word of God. It is to the task of proclamation that this journal is dedicated. We invite a wide variety of men and women to join us in the fulfillment of our mission. If you are looking for a journal that has a single point of view, we will disappoint you. If, however, you want to explore issues related to the powerful preaching of the gospel from a variety of theological and social views, you will find The Living Pulpit to be a help in your exploration.
Please explore our web site. You will find an introduction to the journal, be introduced to articles in back issues, be invited to join a conversation with others, e-mail me a message, or subscribe on-line. I hope that you will enjoy getting acquainted with our journal and will join us in our conversation about preaching.
Sincerely,
Keith A. Russell
