How many of you guys are planning to go the PCDC Retreat in Hawaii, this year? My understanding, from talking to the folks responsible for setting this up, is that the response has been great all over the country. In case you haven't heard anything about it, there has not been a national diaconate conference (open to ALL the ordained) for several years, and the Pacific Coast Diaconal Conference (PCDC) has welcomed everyone to join them on a 7 day cruise in the Hawaiian Islands for a retreat. Yeah, I know, it sounds like a boon doggle, but it's for real! There will be a bishop on board, and there will be presentations and breakout sessions. A different island will be stopped at each day, and the retreatants (sp?) will have an opportunity to enjoy the sites from late morning to (roughly) late afternoon. I promised my wife a cruise and Hawaii, over 35 years ago, and we're finally getting around to it, and both at the same time!!! We have about 4 or 5 deacon couples going from OKC, and we're all excited. The guys from Honolulu told me that using the cruise ship for our hotel was actually CHEAPER than doing it land-based! If anyone needs more info on this, let me know, and I'll post the URL, etc.

I think I got a flyer in the mail about that a while back. Just not possible for me at this time, but if they did 'em every year I think I would get in on it eventually. Sound GREAT! (What are the dates?)
(How about some pictures in the Diaconal Adventures section when you get back?)
